2010 Annual Meeting: a great success!
In what District Executive Terasa Cooley described as “a
gathering of the tribe,” the Massachusetts Bay District held its annual meeting
on April 11. Sixty-eight delegates representing thirty-one congregations came
together with MBD board and staff at the beautifully renovated First Parish in
Needham. More than anything, the event was a celebration of Unitarian
Universalist leadership, faith formation, growth and mutual support provided
through the District and its 55 member congregations.
The evening began with soulful worship led by Needham parish’s Rev. John Buehrens and ministerial intern Molly Housch. Over a delicious Caribbean dinner provided through eunicescuisine [at] mail [dot] com (Eunice’s Cuisine), guests were invited to share how Unitarian Universalism has impacted their lives. Attendees heard brief reports from Pat Manley (President), Rev. Dr. Terasa Cooley (District Executive), Rev. Sue Phillips (Director of Program Development), Paul Rickter (UUA Trustee) and others.
The evening’s events were capped with a riveting and inspired message from Rev. Terry Sweetser on the theme “Better Together.” “Mass Bay District," he said, “has led the way in showing that congregations are better together. You have shared resources and rejoicing. The result is robust shared ministry. You have taken ‘better together’ to the next level in audaciously choosing a partnership for the future with the Clara Barton District.”
