Diversity of Ministry

An initiative to develop healthy, sustainable ministries with ministers of color and Latina/o, Hispanic, and multiracial clergy and to support seminarians during their formation. DOMT includes representatives from Congregational Life, Multicultural Growth and Witness, Diverse & Revolutionary UU Multicultural Ministries (DRUUMM), and the UU Ministers Association. Alicia Forde) organizes congregational involvement in the initiative, encouraging the development of multicultural congregations, faith based anti-oppression, and social justice in Unitarian Universalist communities. Green Sanctuary

A program designed to give roots and wings to the vision that, together, we can create a world in which all people make reverence, gratitude, and care for the living Earth central to our lives. For a listing of our district congregations that are certified as Green Sanctuaries, click here.

Standing on the Side of Love

A public advocacy campaign that seeks to harness love’s power to stop oppression. This is a time of great hope and possibility, yet our communities are threatened by the increased prevalence of acts motivated by fear and hate. No one should be dehumanized through acts of exclusion, oppression, or violence because of their identities. In public debates over immigration, LGBT rights, economic justice and more, religious people stand on the side of love and call for respect, inclusion, and compassion. Congregations are encouraged to use Standing on the Side of Love branding at events in their local area. [more]

 

Welcoming Congregation

A completely volunteer program for Unitarian Universalist congregations that want to take intentional steps to become more welcoming and inclusive of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. First launched in 1990, the program grew out of an understanding that widespread prejudices and ignorance about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people existed within Unitarian Universalism, which resulted in the exclusion of LGBT people from our congregations.

The program also offers resources to congregations seeking to be more inclusive of people of diverse ages, abilities, cultures, etc. [more]
