Chalice Lighters - Mass Bay District
The Massachusetts Bay District's Chalice Lighter program comprises voluntary contributions from caring individuals to fund beneficial programs, help a troubled congregation, and promote the growth of Unitarian Universalism in the district. Chalice Lighters pledge to respond with $30-60 annually to assist congregations in our district.

Your $30 gift twice a year brings you the satisfaction of watching your contribution multiply to make tens of thousands of dollars available every year to UU congregations in the Mass Bay District (including yours!). In return, we’ll send you a special lapel pin that identifies you as a Mass Bay District Chalice Lighter.

Who is a Chalice Lighter?
Chalice Lighters are Unitarian Universalists who believe in the power of Unitarian Universalism to change lives and create community believe that congregational growth will amplify our faith’s impact in the world are willing to share their financial resources to support Unitarian Universalism in our region.
What do Chalice Lighters support?
The Chalice Lighters Program will make high-impact grants to congregations in the Mass Bay District to support projects that:
- nurture multigenerational connections
- enhance congregational growth programs
- strengthen professional staff
- build connections among UU congregations
- equip people to become transformational leaders in their congregations and the world
How are Chalice Lighters funds distributed?
The Chalice Lighter Grants Panel, which is made up of UUs from congregations throughout our region, will receive applications and make grant awards twice a year. We will send a twice-yearly announcement to all Chalice Lighters sharing the good news about how your donation is being used to grow Unitarian Universalism in our region.
