First Parish in Bedford receives Pickett award!

The First Parish in Bedford has been awarded the Eugene O. Pickett award for their outstanding contribution to the growth of Unitarian Universalism. This congregation, founded in 1729, has grown steadily in numbers in recent years, and has been a vital presence in their community and within Unitarian Universalism as a whole. They are regularly featured in Boston area newspapers for their innovative programming. A Welcoming Congregation, they have been dedicated to the partnership with many in causes of social justice locally, nationally and internationally.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Weston

First Parish in Weston has long had a custom of picking an all-parish project to engage in at the start of the fall worship year. Senior Minister Tom Wintle says that the congregation’s charge has been to “find, fund, and finish a project that can change us and change the world.” This imperative grew out of the congregation’s last strategic plan, said Wintle, and was intended to involve all ages and generations.

UU Church of Reading Recognized at GA as a Breakthrough Practice Congregation

The UUA honored the UU Church of Reading, Massachusetts, together with four other “Breakthrough Practice Congregations.” The Reading congregation was chosen for its practice of involving children and youth in all aspects of Sunday morning worship from the opening welcome, announcements and reading to co-leading worship and playing music.
